“…what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too
may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and
with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so
that our joy
may be made
complete.” (1 John 1:3-4)
In these
verses, we discover some of the most precious scriptures found in all of the
Word of God, containing one of the principal reasons that the Lord Master has
given us His written Word. This passage explains to all believers that the Word
was specifically given to us “so that our joy may be made complete.” It is a
simple concept. Knowing the intimate details of God’s astonishing love for us
invariably produces a bountiful harvest of His true joy and a life of peace
with the Lord Master of all Creation. Indeed, such truth multiplies within us
as an overwhelming peace that is so perfect and so powerful that the resulting
joy itself covers and overwrites every aspect of our lives! Imagine the dismal
life that we would lead if we did not know for sure about the details of God’s
love and His plan for our lives. Without the Word of God, there would be
endless chaos in the Body. But because He has given us such a detailed record
of His love and plan for each of us in His Word, we have the astonishing privilege
of knowing extraordinary things that even angels long to see as each of us walk
in the flesh toward the towering Gates of Zion. (1 Peter 1:12) Therefore, at
this time of noon, let us rejoice in a comprehensive and complete peace that
has been given to us in and between each line of His precious, inerrant Word!
Before the
King at Midday
“Blessed Author of all joy, today I
cannot even imagine finding myself worthy of such marvelous gifts: the gift of
Your Spirit of Grace, of Your perfect Word, of an empowered life, and of the
constant, ceaseless fountain of joy that You have provided for me. A simple
thank You seems so inadequate and so small. And yet, it is what I humbly bring
into Your courts today. I thank You, Lord Master, with my sincere and
overwhelming devotion, love, and praise. Amen.”
